ABED MAHFOUZ
High-end French pastry was an entirely new world that Abed Mahfouz has now mastered,
thanks to Ladurée’s executive pastry chef Mickael de Monte
«The history, the glamour, the capital of love are enough to keep Paris the city of dreams» . In 2001, Mahfouz’first collection was entitled “The Dreamer”.
What is your favorite cuisine?
Lebanese food is number one for me. I also can’t forget French and Italian cuisine.
Do you cook, and if so what and how often?
Yes, I often spend time cooking, but this is the first time that I try making a pastry.
Lebanese Fraqe (Southern dish made of raw meat, bulgur and spices) is my favorite dish.
What was the idea behind the dress you designed for Salon du Chocolat Beirut?
The theme of the show is One Thousand and One Nights, the Middle Eastern folk tales that are part fairytale, part science fiction. The concept I came up with is the history as I see it with a bit of the Abed Mahfouz futuristic dimension.
« EVERY YEAR, EVERY SEASON, EVERYWHERE I DREAM… I ALWAYS DREAM »
Is there a connection between food and fashion?
I find fashion and food are both ways to convey a passion; a kind of art that speaks to all the senses.
