HONORING A LEGEND, PAUL BOCUSE
«Monsieur Paul», the «chef of the century» and the «Pope of gastronomes»
dies at age 91. Chefs around the world mourn his passing.
Bocuse obtained his first Michelin star in 1958, in 1961 the title of Best Craftsman of France, in 1962 his second Michelin star and his third in 1965.
In 1975, he was nominated Knight of the Legion of Honour by Valéry Giscard d’Estaing at the Elysée Palace. For the occasion, he created the V.G.E. soup.
In 1987, he created the Bocuse d’Or in Lyon, of which he became the President in 1989. That same year, he was named Chef of the Century by Gault & Millau.
In 1990, he opened the Institut Paul Bocuse and in 1991 he entered the Grévin museum.
SIGNATURE DISHES
At the time of his death, he had nine restaurants in and around the city of Lyon and several abroad, including Japan, the US and Switzerland.
