HOW TO SET UP A PRETTY TABLE FOR VALENTINE’S DAY
Surprise your loved ones with a romantic table setting for Valentine’s Day. On this occasion, we interviewed Maria Boustany Abi Nasr Home & Table Styling Expert, PR of Chateau Rweiss to inspire you to get this beautiful crazy love mood
What is the theme for this Valentine?
Our theme for this Valentine’s Day is Dramatic love. We love fiercely, we love passionately, we love aggressively.
That is why I have introduced the black and red as a color scheme.
How did you decorate this beautiful table setting?
Candles are lit in the center surrounded by one type of flower and similar black vases. Red tulips are more creative than the traditional red roses and since it is their season they are found locally now in Lebanon.
The black velvet table runner gives the look a dramatic background. The mixture of the red and black stemmed glasses also created a depth for the tablescape. The charger plate with the red rim is an authentic background to the matt plate with special small plates. The black napkin follows the table runner and is brought down from the plates to keep the decorative plates on display. Black cutlery are very trendy now and adds an elegant touch.
What are your favorite details to add in your table settings?
My favorite details added are the small plates with a special message LOVE and CRAZY LOVE later on to be used as a bread plate.
Distinguished hand made with their red center they replicate the pomegranates that are included in the centerpiece. I have added specifically the pomegranates for this theme because they symbolize fertility, beauty and eternal life, in Greek and Persian mythology.
The playful part of this table settings are the different LOVE messages displayed on the cookies, the chocolates, the strawberries dipped with chocolate, the big chocolate heart – meant to be broken with a hammer to see what is underneath – all sweets are a very special Valentine’s Day atypical table decoration.
Do you have a signature touch you add?
My special touch for table settings is known for playing with plates, I like the mix and match between plates, charger plates or dessert plates. I feel that it adds an element of surprise as if each guest has a customized design in front of him specially made for them.
