MARCEL GHANEM

Known for firing hard-hitting questions on his MTV talk show Sar El Wa2et, Marcel Ghanem is one of Lebanon’s most recognized faces. We turn the tables on the TV star and put him in the hot seat at Burgundy restaurant, where he talks about his career, his impact on the country and his love of Lebanese food.

«Lebanese cuisine is one of the most important in the world. It’s definitely my favorite because it’s so rich.»

What is your health regimen?

I usually eat very healthy – oats, almond milk, rice Cracotte crackers, soba noodles, yogurt, grilled fish – no carbs or fat.

What is your health regimen?

I usually eat very healthy – oats, almond milk, rice Cracotte crackers, soba noodles, yogurt, grilled fish – no carbs or fat.

Do you cook?

No – I don’t know how to cook an egg. But I like to go to “my place” – the gourmet restaurant Burgundy in Saifi Village where one of my favorite chefs, Youssef Akiki mans the helms.

What bothers you?

I’m not happy to see that there are some kinds of Lebanese food that we are not cooking anymore.

What is your favorite dessert?

Baklawa is my favorite dessert.

What is your favorite breakfast?

My typical breakfast is a light manoushe – zaatar and olive oil on rice bread served cold.

What is the importance of Lebanese food for you?

I like to eat at least once a week at home “Tabkhah Lebneniyeh” or traditional Lebanese home cooking. It is a subject that I take very seriously and one that I plan to explore in depth on my show.

«We have to embrace our Traditional Lebanese food culture.»
