MICHELIN GUIDE 2020: STARS & AWARDS
The 2020 edition of the Michelin guide, the “gastronomy bible” that can make or break restaurant reputations and spotlight talented chefs, has been revealed. Congratulations to Taste & Flavors’ favorite chefs, Chef Frédéric Anton and Chef Christophe Bacquié, for being recognized again.
The MICHELIN Guide is a megaphone and its mission is to make the most talented chefs visible to the general public. Plate, Bib Gourmand or Star, the 3,435 restaurants included in the MICHELIN Guide France 2020 are run by chefs with undeniable know-how. For a long time, Michelin’s inspectors were only able to share some of the information captured and verified during their table tests. The Guide continues its mission and is helping promote the chefs who have taken responsibility by preserving resources and embracing biodiversity, reducing food waste and reducing the consumption of non-renewable energy.
The MICHELIN Guide new edition brings together 934 hotels and guesthouses as well as 3,435 restaurants:
- 628 starred restaurants including:
- 513 one star restaurants, 49 of which are new
- 86 two star restaurants, including 11 new additions
- 29 three star restaurants, including 3 new additions
- 567 Bib Gourmand restaurants, including 72 new additions
- 2,240 restaurants distinguished with a MICHELIN Plate
Congratulations to:
- Chef Frédéric Anton and all his teams at the restaurants Le Jules Verne, which won a star just six months after reopening, and Le Pré Catelan, which has had three stars since 2007. These stars comes as a reward for all the hard work Chef Frédéric Anton and his teams have done at Le Jules Verne and Le Pré Catelan in both the dining room and kitchen. Getting a first star at Le Jules Verne just six months after its reopening and having three stars for the thirteenth consecutive year at Le Pré Catelan, counts as a big achieving.
- Chef Christophe Bacquié and all his teams at the restaurant Le Castellet by Christophe Bacquié which successfully kept its three stars in the 2020 Michelin guide. Christophe Bacquié received a lot of buzz after having been anointed once more with the highly-coveted three stars. He initially obtained it for the first time in the MICHELIN Guide France 2018. Housed in Hotel du Castellet in France’s picturesque Var region, Christophe Bacquié’s eponymous restaurant is famous for its Mediterranean-influenced dishes that shine the spotlight on seasonal produce and seafood over the past nine years.
