Contrary to the Japanese origin of the word Umami, the restaurant doesn’t offer Japanese food. It was named as such because the word “Umami” means the perfect balance between the core tastes: sweet, sour, bitter, and salty.
The restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on Italian and French dishes.
Umami is Master Chef Tarek Ibrahim’s first restaurant venture in Egypt.
